Topic : "Interpersonal Communication Online"
You will do an online search and identify a recently published news article (not a journal article) that exemplifies I illustrates / applies / contradicts a specific technology-related issue we covered in class.
You will post a reaction on the discussion board after reading and briefly summarizing the news article. You should post your reaction under "PPRPs of the Day" thread under the assigned due date discussion board.
YOUR REACTION SHOULD BE CRITICAL, NOT A SUMMARY OF THE NEWS PIECE. You should find a news piece that exemplifies or showcases concepts related to the topics from our class (e.g., technological determinism, online deception, Internet credibility, online communities, etc.).
Your post should meet the following criteria/ requirements:
– You should find a news piece, NOT A JOURNAL ARTICLE OR BOOK REVIEW. Your news article should be from a reputable source (e.g., New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, etc.). Your source should not be a blog, book review or a tabloid article. News articles from these sources will not be accepted.
– Publication date for your news article should not be older than 2013.
– Post your reaction under "PPRPs of the Day" thread under the assigned due date discussion board. Copy and paste the link to the news article at the top of your post.
– The length of your reaction should be min 300, max 500 words. Posts not meeting these criteria will be flagged for re-posting.
– Briefly summarize the main argument in the article as it relates to your choice of concept from the assigned lecture (No more then 3 sentences)
– Take a "critical" approach to the arguments made / events described in the news article and propose your own point of view using what you have learned in this class. You should APPLY a relevant concept / theory / principle covered in the assigned lecture to propose your own argument here. (Should be the longest part of your post)
– Pose TWO thought provoking question for the rest of the class at the end of your post. The questions should flow from your critique and should help the class apply the course material.
– The original poster goes back to the discussion board and responds to any comments (if available) made on his or her reaction.
