2. Athlete Case Study: Timmy is a triathlete who you are working with in your professional capacity. He has recently decided to follow the ketogenic diet. He has asked you for your advice about implementing the diet in practice.

3. a) Outline what advice you would provide to Timmy as per your professional scope of practice. What education might you provide them relevant to their sport?

b) Following your discussion, Timmy comes to see you 6 weeks later after having decided to follow the dietary patten of interest as his mate Simon was doing it too. He is complaining of having severe pain in the abdominal region a few hours after meals and experiencing bloating and diarrhoea. He states that training sessions that a few weeks ago felt easy are now a challenge to complete. In particular, he is running out of energy to complete his swims and has had his times for running and bike training increase considerably. Some days he is so fatigued he is missing training sessions all together.

i. Outline what screening you would recommend be undertaken and identify what you think the potential cause/s could be relevant to the dietary patten he has chosen to follow.
