You are the nurse discharging the patient (Mr Bistle, 70 year old male) from hospital following a cataract operation on his left eye, and the patient was concerned about his bowels. He states that he has had at least 2 weeks with diarrhoea and he soiled himself while waiting for cataract operation. Says had occasional faecal incontinence - looks dark in colour, with occasional red blood noted. Pain on opening bowels. Has noted weight loss, appetite reduced. Feels unwell. Obs: Temp: 37, RR: 16, P: 98, Bp: 160/90 Abdo: soft, non tender, mass palpable in LIF, lymphadenopathy in L groin. PR not done. Stool sample sent to labs' is important to ascertain during the history taking? What would be the red flags associated with the following systems: Respiratory, Cardiac, Gastrointestinal and Neurological System.
