2. The summary: (150-200 words - 1 paragraph ONLY)
1. The first sentence should include the writer/speaker, title, year of publication, and main idea (thesis) of the writer/speaker.
2. It should cover all the main points discussed in the podcast.
3. It should include the writer's/speaker's conclusion.
4. It should not include any of your own opinion (just present the facts).
3. The critique: (300-400 words - 3-4 paragraphs)
The critique MUST have 2 sections. Part A should be based on factual proof and Part B should demonstrate personal opinion (the first person singular MUST be used).
1. Analysis (You MUST answer all of these questions in 1 paragraph)
1. What is the author's purpose for writing/speaking (inform, persuade, recommend, etc.)?
2. Who is the author's target audience is? Why?
3. What are the author's supporting points?
4. Do they directly support the main idea?
5. Are they based on research; or are they simply someone's opinion?
6. Briefly discuss the research methodology (Did they only do research by referring to other articles or did they do their own experiments?
B. Relevance + Applicability (This section should be LONGER than the Analysis section)
1. Is the author's talk effective? Why or why not?
2. Do you agree with the author's conclusions? Why or why not?
3. What implications (resulting effects) do the main points and conclusions present to the scientific (or other) community, people, environment, etc.?
4. How could you use the author's findings in your future studies?
5. Can you apply the findings to your own life? If so, how? If not, why not?
6. Would you recommend this article/podcast to others? Why or why not?
7. What OTHER criteria did you assign to your critique?
