1. Briefly describe your proposed project for the site and the site area. What general species and system are you interested in studying and why? This does not have to be fully developed at this point, but should get you thinking about country choice, species selection, and your system. For example, a species such as a macroalgae might require site selection in the ocean which appropriate optimal temperatures. Or a tropical shrimp species might be farmed anywhere in the world in a recirculating aquaculture system or could be limited by temperature if farmed in an open pond system. Reading the Chapters on Site selection and on aquaculture systems (Chapter 3) will help you select a system as well as begin your initial research to collect sources related to a possible species for the course project. Consider and describe what makes this site or community an ideal location for your proposed project. Begin formulating your idea for that proposed project by describing the site, general species group such as algae or crustacean, and type of system.
2. Describe your site location and the natural resources with an image of your location for the facility with a map and Zillow/Google earth images of the site. This can be an existing lot or building for sale, or can be a piece of property that you are interested in developing not currently on the market (for that use Google EarthLinks to an external site.). It is important that you tie site location and natural resources to the proposed type of aquaculture and species; reflect back to part 1.
3. Describe your source water for the site. Municipal water, ground water, pipe from ocean, or is it an ocean lease? Please  a short paragraph describing this plan. Refer to the site selection worksheet from Ohio State Extension serviceLinks to an external site.. Relate this back to the type of aquaculture you would like to do at the site. Make sure the water source is realistic based on the country's natural resources. For example, don't pipe in seawater when you are 200 miles from the coast. Address both water source and availability. If there are local water sources you intend to draw from with your system describe those. Describe the type of aquaculture system chosen in general (recirculating system, pond system, open ocean lease, recirculating pond system). Refer to the mini lecture on Aquaculture systems and Chapter 3.

4. What infrastructure is needed to get the product to market? Is the site you selected near a major highway? City center? Or the airport? How do you intend the product to reach the market? right  a paragraph addressing the question of market access. Refer to your reading and examine both community perceptions of aquaculture and support services for aquaculture to address this.
