Question 1
Briefly describe what type of organization SST is. Would you consider ShotSpotter a social venture? Why or why not? Some additional research will be necessary here in that you will need to first research, and then define, what a social venture is. Does the fact that the company is a for profit organization impact whether or not it's a social venture? Provide a couple examples, and associated discussion, of other organizations that might be considered "social ventures" to support your position. Would you consider the venture capitalists that invested in SST "impact investors"? Why or why not? Once again some additional research will be necessary in that you will need to research, and then define, what an impact investor is. Then use this definition to assess whether or not you consider ShotSpotter's investors to be impact investors.
Question 2
Who are SST's stakeholders? Why are they stakeholders? What benefits does the technology offer these stakeholders? Please note that I am not expecting a full blown classical "stakeholder analysis". I want you to identify the various individuals, groups, organizations, etc. that may be impacted when ShotSpotter is implemented in a community. In doing so, please make sure you discuss 1) why they are stakeholders, 2) the short term impacts of ShotSpotter upon them; and 3) the long terms impacts of ShotSpotter upon them. In addition, please identify at least one group of stakeholders for which the implementation of ShotSpotter will be detrimental, again explaining why they are stakeholders (including discussing why ShotSpotter is detrimental to them) and the short term and long term impacts of this system upon them. I am expecting 6 different stakeholders in total (i.e. including the one for which ShotSpotter is a negative); but no problem if you supply more.
