In tables of thermodynamic data provided in chemistry books, one finds delta Hf, delta Gf, and delta S listed. Briefly explain why the entropy data are supplied as S, while the enthalpy and free energy data are in the form of delta Hf and delta Gf, respectively. In other words, why do H and G have f subscripts and S does not.
