Assignment: Team Report Assessed on Individual Contribution

Introduction

This is a team based report submission which will be assessed and marked on the basis of individual contribution. The assessment questions are carried over from the assignment 2. You need to complete the task as given in Section 4.0 and as per the requirements given in the following sections. Please note that the role of engineering leader you will play here is different from the previous assignment.

Task

After your presentation with Ministry of New and Alternative Energy (MNAE), government has agreed to provide you 4 months extension but VicSolar and Sustainable Joint Venture (SJV) could not complete the project up to the satisfactory level. Government blacklisted SJV from participating in any biddings for solar project in India for the next one year. This has become a topic of discussion in media and damaged reputation of both SJV and VicSolar.

SJV and VicSolar has formed a joint committee to analyse the situation. The committee observed that the crisis was mainly due to lack of Engineering Leadership skills. On the recommendation of committee, SJV with VicSolar have planned for major revamp in organization working structure and policies. Thus, the organization management has recruited your team to implement the following recommended tasks with an aim to bring change in the organization working structure and policies.

Team member 1:

You will develop the proposal for change in organization structure and you need to also come-up with the working guidelines for SJV

Team member 2:

You will assess all the leadership styles and give a brief explanation for the leadership style that has to be adopted by the organization by considering short and long-term goals and vision of SJV.

Team member 3:

You will assess the stages of emotion in SJV and VicSolar using engineering leadership knowledge. You need to also explain the steps the organization will take to ensure the employees overcomes psychological changes.

Team member 4:

To ensure strategic re-alignment and restructuring of the organisation, explain how you will bring the change in the organization considering the inevitable resistance from employees. Your steps for change management should ensure that all the employees move in the same direction.

Note : There are four tasks in total. Each member of the team should complete one different task so that all the four tasks would be properly addressed within a team. Each team should submit one report consisting of all four tasks. When put together, all the four tasks in the report should meet all the requirements of section 4 and the submitted report should reflect synergy in the team. It is highly recommended that before the submission, the whole team should meet and go through the work of other team members to ensure that all the four tasks are addressed.
