Diversity can lead to improved performance as described in the article in regards to women and diversity in the ?nancial ?eld. After much research, it was that 84.2 percent of financial planners are white and that 68.7 percent were male. This data is a clear indication of the need to bridge the gap of women in the ?nancial industry which is why the University of Akron conducted this research to bring light to the issue (Bisco, Gradisher, Mulholland, p. 12). Also, as described in the textbook, Deloitte Touche also made an effort in their company to assist women in reaching management and corporate board member positions. "Evidence shows that Fortune 500 firms with a higher percentage of female directors and managers performed better financially", which confirms the data from the University of Akron (Ivancevich, Konopaske, Matteson, p. 5?).
