John, a 60-year-old man, comes in with breathlessness and chest discomfort that becomes worse when he moves. He has a number of serious risk factors, including a family history of coronary artery disease, a long-standing smoking habit, inconsistent medication adherence for high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and a sedentary lifestyle. Upon physical examination, the patient exhibits signs of exhaustion and high blood pressure, which are in line with his reported symptoms of pressure-like chest discomfort that radiates to his left arm. A stress test, echocardiography, and electrocardiogram are among the diagnostic procedures that demonstrate myocardial ischemia and reduced left ventricular function, which are signs of coronary artery disease. Changes in lifestyle, drug administration, and even surgery to increase cardiac blood flow are all part of the treatment.
