Discussion 1
1. How does a creative orientation support the analysis of business opportunities for strategic change?
How might an organizational culture manifest as reactive or creative?
What individual and organizational structures support a creative orientation?
2. How does a creative orientation support the analysis of business opportunities for strategic change?
("The creative mind is much more capable of leading in today's complex orientations" Anderson, R. pg.207). A creative orientation supports the analysis of business opportunities for strategic change by helping the business develop several strategies on ways to help improve the company and the employees. Creative orientation supports the analysis of business opportunities by helping the company develop new objectives, new procedures, new purposes and new goals. Creative orientation is when everyone in the company must train in order to be able to deal with the company changes and when new ideas are set in place. During the creative orientation it's a time when research is done by the company marketing team and the team debates on different issues in the company that may have been brought up during mandatory meetings to help develop change in the company.
How might an organizational culture manifest as reactive or creative? The organizational culture manifest as reactive or creative mind was researched and actual used by Fritz, Robert in our class textbook on Anderson, R. pg. 211. Larry Wilson described the reactive and creative mind as ("play not to lose or play to win" Anderson, R. pg. 212). The creative mind creates a different ("results and focuses on the organizational purposes" Anderson, R. pg. 213). The reactive mind ("creates an oscillating pattern of performance over time, the natural tendency of which to seek equilibrium and return to normal" Anderson, R. pg. 213).
What individual and organizational structures support a creative orientation? The organizational structure that supports a creative orientation is ("Creative Leadership is about creating an organization that we believe in, creating outcomes that matters most, and enhancing to create an inspiring future" Anderson, R. pg. 214). Respond?
3. Shifting from a reactive leadership style to a creative leadership orientation can be done and is not impossible as some might think. According to Adams and Anderson (2016), we believe that systems in place will determine performance. If a system is in place it can require leadership that wants to be empowered to make positive changes. The results that really matter will come up and then a process can happen to make that change real. Sometimes it is the limited structure that is needing to be fixed that is creating personal behaviors. A creative person will think about things in a systematic way and create a new way of doing something (Adams & Anderson 2016).
Some people might say a person who have creative leadership can balance reasoning with intuition. Cultural biases will tell us to ignore intuition and can prevent strategic changes from happening as they should. Basically it is good if your intuition is saying speak up and do something is a process is not working and help make the change. A creative leadership style helps to guide the process until it is completed as a team is an example. Leadership with vision can change a path towards transformation (Adams & Anderson 2016). Respond?
Discussion2
1. How do a clear purpose and vision support leaders in achieving strategic change?
How might you describe the culture of an organization with clear purpose and vision?
What structural elements might you expect in an organization pursuing strategic change successfully?
2. A clear purpose helps leaders achieve strategic change, because there given ("a task of a life creatively led is to discern the purpose of our life" Anderson. R pg. 239). A purpose is knowing there a reason a person is aiming to do better in life by setting goals. ("Our purpose is connected to the needs of others around us, of the organizations, society, and the world we live in" Anderson. R. pg. 243). In our textbook Chapter 11 states ("Great leaders stands for what matters and creates it" Anderson. R. pg. 239). Vision support leaders in achieving strategic change by setting a purpose in order to create a vision. ("Creative leadership is the ongoing discipline of translating purpose into vision of our desired, both individually and collectively" Anderson. R. pg. 245). I will describe the culture of an organization that certain business has a certain way they perform and do their jobs. Everyone must have the same understanding of the purpose they decided to work for a certain organization and remember they must understand the clear purpose in order to get a better understanding of the vision. ("Creative mind is focusing on creating vision; thus, the discipline that most evolves Creative mind is the challenge of self-authoring a vision of greatness for ourselves and for the organization "Anderson, R. pg. 245). The structural elements an individual might expect in an organization are: 1) Vision is Personal 2) Vision is Specific 3) Vision is Strategic 4) Vision is lofty and 5) Vision is collective. ("Vision personal- vision, in the reactive mind, is given or authored by others, and then it is adopted, how enthusiastically. Vision is Specific- It is specific enough that we would recognize it when we realize it. Vision is Strategic-uses a strategy chart the course of how to get from wherever we are to vision. Vision is Lofty- it captures highest aspirations for our lives and work. Vision Collective- vision catalyzes alignment" Anderson, R. pg. 246-247). Respond?
