-The addition of a few drops of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) in 50 ml water elevated the pH of water from 7 to 9.5 but addition of the same amount of ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) in another 50 ml of water only increased the pH of water from 7 to 7.5. Why did this happen? What can be done to bring the high pH of water samples back to 7? Explain briefly.
