Scenario 

Management of exposure to blood, where a breach in infection control procedures has taken place.

• A staff member cut their finger whilst slicing an orange in the staff room kitchen. A second staff member applied first aid but did not wear gloves and was exposed to the blood of the injured person (the injured person had left to receive medical attention). There is some blood on the cutting board and knife. The workplace supervisor may role-play the role of the colleague who was exposed to blood, or you may ask someone else to play this role.
