You have learned about two separate system documentation techniques in this chapter of the Gelinas et al. text. You will now learn about another that has gained in popularity in recent years -- Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN). Click on this link (Links to an external site.) and scroll down the page a bit to read a brief tutorial regarding this technique. Be sure to hover over the orange symbols in order to get an understanding of what the various symbols represent.

For the pizza delivery scenario that is presented, consider how it might look in a data flow diagram or in a system flowchart. You do NOT have to draw it out using either technique (although you might want to rough something out quickly on a piece of paper for your own benefit to help you see the differences), but please address the following in your discussion post:

What additional information do you think the BPMN diagram provides over logical data flow diagrams and system flowcharts?

What information do you believe that the BPMN is lacking when compared to logical data flow diagrams and system flowcharts?

Assuming that you had a good understanding of how to read each of the three types of diagrams (logical data flow diagrams, system flowcharts and BPMN), which would you prefer to use if someone asked you to get an understanding of how the process of pizza delivery worked? Would this change if he/she asked you to identify the information that is captured and used in the information system of the pizza delivery vendor and how it is stored? Explain your responses to both of these questions using the pizza delivery example.
