Assessment - Group Strategic E-Commerce Business Plan
Learning outcome 1: Analyse the Information Technology infrastructure on an organisation's e-business and e- marketing strategy.
Learning outcome 2: Critically evaluate a range of strategic e-business options and create a comprehensive e- business strategic plan for an organisation.
• In Part A, you will critically evaluate differing strategic e-business options that an online organisation might adopt to be competitive in the marketplace.
• In Part B, you will utilise some of the knowledge gained in Part A, to help your group create a e-business strategic plan for an E-commerce product or organisation.
• In Part C, you will create a comprehensive e-commerce business plan for your chosen organisation and/or product and provide contextual information that your organisation and/or product will need to go live.
Part A: Strategic e-Business Options Critical Evaluation
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA/ NGA PAEARU AROMATAWAI
To successfully pass this assessment you are required to research and report on the following:
1. Your group will critically evaluate the five strategic e-business options listed below that are available to an online organisation:
• Product/service differentiation
• Cost competition
• Scope
• Focus
• Customer/supplier intimacy
For each of the strategic e-business options you will need to:
• outline and discuss the option
• give your opinion on the advantages and disadvantages about each options' competitiveness and financial viability in the marketplace
• justify your opinion using scholarly evidence
2. For each strategic e-business option, give an example of at least one Aotearoa/New Zealand (but ideally more) online organisation that has successfully implemented the strategic e-business option, and describe how the use of this option helped that organisation remain financially viable in the marketplace.
Your group will need to demonstrate that you fully understand the five different e-business strategy options and the advantages and disadvantages of each.
Part B: e-Business Strategic Plan
• Your group will create a comprehensive e-business strategic plan for an organisation and/or product.
• Your group could select an organisation that is yet to go online, or you could create a new product that you believe could be sold online quite easily.
You will need to discuss the organisation and/or product with your teachers before you start creating your e-bus
Your business plan should clearly indicate and discuss the business model elements that will influence your plans for your digital organisation/product to be competitive, successful, sustainable, and profitable.
Your e-business plan should include and address the following areas:
1. A brief description of what product and/or organisation you are planning to put on-line.
2. What strategic e-business option (refer Part A above) would best support the product and/or organisation remain financially viable in the marketplace - Justify your answer.
3. Develop a e-business model that you believe will help drive sales for your product and/or organisation in the marketplace. Your e-business model analysis should satisfy the concepts of coherence, resourcefulness, innovativeness, and sustainability of your business plan.
Your business model must review the following areas:
• Value proposition
• Revenue model
• Market opportunity
• Competitive environment
• Competitive advantage
• Organisational development
• Management team.
Part C: e-Commerce Business Plan
• Your group will create a comprehensive e-marketing plan for your chosen organisation and/or product.
• Your group will provide contextual information on the E-commerce infrastructure components that your organisation and/or product will need to go live.
Your business plan should clearly indicate and discuss the marketing strategy elements and infrastructure components that will influence your plans for your digital organisation to be competitive, successful, sustainable, and profitable.
Your business plan should include and address the following areas:
1. A comprehensive e- Marketing Plan for the product and/or organisation, discussing the following marketing strategy elements:
• Target Market Identified
• SWOT Analysis
• Marketing Mix outlined successful business model
2. A comprehensive Strategic Plan to enable your organisation/product to go online, discussing the required E-commerce infrastructure components to build a successful e-Commerce Website/platform.
You group must identify each functionality of
• the hardware,
• software, and
• network
with their key role.
Your group will need to demonstrate that you can develop a workable e-business strategic and marketing plan for your chosen product, and that your plan makes sense. Therefore, you must be able to demonstrate you can apply principles and e-business knowledge.
