You are required to complete this assignment on your own.
This assessment requires you to analyse the case study, Pohutu Wines Ltd, and answer the questions. In this assessment you will need to demonstrate your knowledge of strategic processes in terms of leadership decision making.
Questions -
1. (1500 - 2000 words)
Critically analyse THREE different strategic management tools that can support decision-making for the leaders of Pohutu Wines Ltd. Your analysis should be supported by literature and could include the following strategic management planning tools:
SWOT
PEST
Porter's 5 forces (Or other relevant strategic management tool/s)
Your analysis should include:
a) An introduction, explanation and evaluation of the tools: Why is a particular tool relevant to the organisation, what are the strengths and weaknesses of the tool?
b) How can these strategic management tools help the leaders at Pohutu make better decisions in a dynamic, complex and uncertain business environment?
c) What decision-making approach/s should the leaders consider? For example: centralised or de-centralised approaches (who should be involved?), team decision-making, outside expertise, other considerations, with justification.
2. Analyse the core values that underpin Pohutu Wines and explain why these core values are crucial in the short-term and in the long term. Evaluate how the values might affect customer relations and employee motivation. (1000 words)
3. Critically analyse Mintzberg's Modes of Strategic Decision-Making and suggest how this model could be used to facilitate "plans for growth" for Pohutu Wines Ltd. (1000 words).
