Scenario 1 Hannah Scott is a fourth grader at Cherry Street Elementary School. Cherry Street is an elementary school in an urban, central [insert state] school district. The school seeks to meet the needs of its students through the means of a blending of academics, enrichment activities, innovative technology, programs, and community support. In terms of reading, they follow the Harcourt Trophies Reading Series and the use of writing and literature to reinforce their instruction. Hannah is a quiet African-American nine-year-old student. She has an older sister in the 6th grade. After receiving the mother's approval, her teacher recommended her to be part of the tutoring study because she was struggling with reading. The tutoring intervention happens once a week on Wednesday mornings before school from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. The sessions occur in the corner of the school's cafeteria, where all the students gather in the morning before the homeroom bell rings.
