bioinformatic You have been given a gene sequence, which is in RAW file format. Perform the following tasks by visually inspecting the sequence using information you were provided during lectures for Module 1, Topics 2 and 3. Hint: search for the START and STOP codons. (b) How many amino acids will the gene code for? (c) Translate the sequence and deduce the amino acid sequence for the putative protein. (d) Can you identify a signal peptide? If yes, identify it? (e) Sometimes, it is not possible to identify a gene using the method you used in question (a) above. One of the reasons is that the gene has not been sequenced completely - this happens during random sequencing of clones from bacterial genomic libraries. Perform a 6 frame translation of the given gene. Can you see the difference between the amino acid composition of all 6 translations. (f) Determine the G+C content of the coding region of the gene. Change the G+C content of the gene without changing the amino acid composition.
The F1 generation, which resulted from cross between the two lines, has a mean of 135kg and a variance of 16kg. What is the broad sense heritability (H2) for milk yield in this population.
What is the probability that, in an organism with a haploid number of 15, a sperm will be formed that contains all 15 chromosomes whose centromeres were derived from maternal homologs?
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease. Various people with Rheumatoid arthritis have rheumatoid factor in their blood.
Suppose that a duplex DNA molecule undergoes two double-stranded breaks that tightly flank the promoter of a gene and that the promoter region is inverted prior to enzymatic repair of the breaks.
Discuss how research might address these gaps. Focus on biological or public health hypotheses rather than study designs or logistics.
q1. a geneticist is examining the culture of fruit flies and discovers single female with strange spots on her legs.
A cross between two black guinea pigs produces some black guinea pigs and some white guinea pigs. What is the gene make up of the two parents?
Based on this data, could you help me construct a map of the genes? In addition, the data should fit a 3:1 ratio, based on a chi square analysis, does it?
q1. in a continuous culture of a bacterium running at d0.345 hr-1 glucose is the limiting substrate with a residual
What term is used to describe the pattern of base pairing between one DNA strand and its partner in a duplex?
Describe the components and characteristics of plasma. Describe the path of a red blood cell through the heart, pulmonary circuit, and systemic circuit. Mention all valves.
Is high fructose corn syrup bad for you? Explain your answer. To answer this question, you must do some research to find out what corn syrup is and what research has been done. Two credible sources are needed.
