Literature Review - The Obesity Epidemic

Assessment Task

The assessment is a literature review, worth 40% of the final mark. It is to be written as a review of current literature for the Department of Health to update and educate policy makers. It must be 1500 words long. The subject is ‘The Obesity Epidemic' - and you must choose one of the titles suggested below.

How does childhood obesity impact on health in adulthood?

Critically review the evidence for public health interventions to reduce obesity in children.

Critically review the relationship between mental health and obesity.

Assessment criteria
The literature review should use the traditional sub-headings of Introduction, Review (can be several sub-headings relating directly to the content), and Conclusions. Headings can be highlighted in bold. Credit will be given for a coherent review of the subject, which addresses the chosen title.
The review must be fully referenced using correct Harvard referencing. Refer to your notes from the workshop with Kate Stephenson to ensure you have done this properly.
A word count (excluding references) must be included.
The Arial font size 12 should be used, and line spacing should be set to 1.5.
An eloquent and thoughtful analysis of a wide range of appropriate literature, presented with good English and correct referencing, will be well received.

You have 200 words (in addition to the 1500 word limit for the review) to answer these questions. Reflecting on your writing process will greatly enhance your development as an academic writer.
