BIO-1156 Wellness and Health Issues - Lethbridge College

You will be required to keep regular journal entries and reflect on the experience near the end of the semester. At the beginning of the semester, you will choose the style of journal that you will keep and each entry must follow that format. Additionally, various entries completed in class will include reflection from an in-class activity.

Private Ongoing Journal:

Starting September 9th, you will keep three (3) journal entries per week on Canvas. Most weeks, you will receive class time to complete two out of three of the week's entries. Weeks where time does not permit this, you will be responsible for ensuring you have three entries at the weeks end. Journal entries completed in class will begin with a response to a prompt or a reflection of an in-class activity. Your journal entries will be checked five (5) times over the semester at semi-random.

Each entry will:
• Follow your chosen format
• Include prompt responses and activity reflection if applicable
• Use appropriate language and proper grammar and punctuation

Final Reflection:
At the end of the semester, you will submit a reflection on your journaling experience. Discuss your experience in keeping a reflective journal. Think back to the "5-Perspecitves of Reflective Journaling" and "The Value of Reflective Journaling in Undergraduate Nursing Education: A Literature Review" papersthat you read at the beginning of the semester and discuss your experience in relation to those articles.

Include in your discussion:
• Two positive experiences that have been facilitated by journaling
• Whether or not you will continue on with journaling and why or why not
• Your experience and perspective compared to the "5-perspectives on reflective journaling" paper read earlier in the semester.
• Your thoughts on how you would use journaling as a tool in your career now that you have experienced reflective journaling first-hand.
