Question: There has been a terrible earthquake, and most police officers are occupied helping injured citizens. In the chaos, many people go into stores and take merchandise without paying for it. Paul, for example, goes into a Big Electronics store and carries out a large television that he has not paid for, planning to put it in his living room. Ashley and Betty see Paul take the television without paying for it and know exactly what he is doing. Ashley watches with curiosity, but she does not do anything to stop Paul, even though she has a gun and a cell phone and knows she can easily do so. Though Betty does not know Paul personally, she gets caught up in the excitement and helps Paul carry the television to his car so that he can take it home. After the incident, Betty never sees Paul again. Is either Ashley or Betty guilty of larceny for the taking of the television?
