Lets discuss what it means to enter someone else's story....not just being a Child Life Specialist, but being a part of someone else's story rather than our own during the most challenging of times. Child Life isn't easy, and maintaining the balance of professional boundaries and self care can be challenging. Keep in mind that when we do enter the stories of others, we are a part of their experience and need to maintain that focus on THEIR experiences. How will you maintain the focus on the child's and family's experiences rather than your own? What have you done, or how do you hope to maintain the focus on the family's needs during the most challenging of moments? What boundaries do you think will be most beneficial to maintaining a professional role in child life? And how did/would you maintain your own self care after stepping away from the situation?
