There are four behaviors :

You might want them to adopt a new behavior, belief, etc. (Adoption).

Maybe you want them to stop doing some behavior or stop believing something (Discontinuance).

You might want them to continue doing some behavior or believing in something (Continuance).

Or, finally, you might want them to never begin doing the behavior or even think about adopting a certain belief, attitude, etc. (Deterrence).
