The department manager tells you that when locating and recording diagnostic codes, there are steps that everyone who performs this task should follow. Your friend, Jane, tells you that she has been doing this job for years and often skips a step or two if she thinks that she already knows the correct code or guesses the code if necessary. She feels that as long as she gets close to the correct code, it will not create any problems.
