1. Creating an Outline
Outlines are helpful tools to utilize in the writing process in order to begin to effectively organize ideas. After brainstorming, creating an outline allows you to map out your ideas to use during the drafting process.Outlines use the ideas from brainstorming to create a pattern in order to fully develop a genre and organizeideas to draft an effective essay or other document.
In this lab, you will complete the following:
1. Create a keyword outline based on a choice you have made that has impacted your life in someway)
2. Start with a creative title and then develop the outline to detail major sections (main points),including the introduction and conclusion, and supporting details.
3. Create a keyword outline as the next step in the writing process.
4. Develop the outline with an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion (five numerals).

2. Drafting an Essay
Draft an essay based on a choice that you have made that has impacted your life in some way, such aspurchasing a home, buying a car, or choosing a career. Utilize the prewriting developed for outline as you begin to draft or create a outline on the choice before drafting
1. Begin with an introduction that incorporates a grabber or hook in the first sentence and a thesis statement in the last sentence.
2. Use the ideas generated in the concept map and outline to create the body of the essay in threewell-developed body paragraphs.
3. Be sure that each body paragraph includes a topic sentence, three supporting detail sentences, and a concluding sentence.
4. Include clear transitions between the body paragraphs to connect the ideas together.
5. Wrap up the essay with a concluding paragraph that leaves a lasting impression on the reader.
