Further to Assignment 1, a European construction company has approached your consultancy firm to assist with the expansion of their operations in Australia.
The construction company is now considering submitting a tender for a large, multi-level residential construction project in Chadstone.
As your clients are unfamiliar with the application of the Australian Legal system they ask you to explain the system of codes, regulations, standards and legislation that apply to the construction industry in Victoria generally, and specifically to the Chadstone residential project. This will include licensing and consumer protection provisions. You also need to explain the principles and tenets of contract law and the law of tort, and how these will be relevant to the business and practice of construction in Victoria generally and more specifically to the proposed new Chadstone project.
To clearly explain to the European construction company how the Australian Legal system may apply to the Chadstone project it will be necessary to prepare various diagrams and charts, and to provide examples illustrating how these controls may be applicable to the new project.
