The basis for the data requirements and database:
When designing the database management, I would assign the Principal or Assistant Principal the ability to access and modify all aspects of the database. The rest of the faculty would have areas that they could add information pertaining to their individual classes that would allow them to keep a list of all students' information. The teachers could have a list of all parents' phone numbers, email addresses, etc. that would allow them to easily get in contact with parents as needed. Each teacher would only have access to view information for the students that they have, that way teachers aren't sharing information with the entire school. They would be able to input grades and keep track of what areas of the curriculum seem to give students difficulty so that they could adjust the teaching to focus on the more difficult areas. The students would also have access to the system but their access would only be limited to viewing grades the teachers have submitted and also materials that each teacher would require for their class. The students could also view upcoming assignments ahead of time to help prepare them if they would need extra help.
In this task, you will complete and submit an individual proposal. In your proposal, you should include the first two elements of your final project: a case needs analysis and a relational database model. Use what you have discussed in your collaborative groups to finalize your proposal. This will be graded with the Milestone Three Rubric.
Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed in your submission:
I. Case Needs Analysis: Determine the data requirements of Birchwood Lane Schools.
a. What data from the scenario is needed for the database and why?
b. To what extent is additional information needed to develop complete data requirements?
II. Relational Database Model
a. Based on the requirements you have determined, propose a relational database model. Be sure to include applicable entities and proper relationship mapping.
b. Propose a logical database model based on the entities present in your visual conceptual database model.
