Case: This week, we will focus on Section II of Marzano, Teacher-Level Factors, and the impact that a teacher can have on student achievement. Marzano points out that teachers are influenced by decisions made by school or district administration. He asks then, "What influence does an individual teacher have apart from [the decisions made by school or district administration?]"
Based on the instructional strategies and behaviors outlined by Marzano in the Instructional Strategies chapter and the five action steps outlined in the chapter on Classroom Curriculum Design, post a substantive response to the following questions:
Describe the context responses to the following prompts. currently teaching a grade or subject? If not teaching currently, describe a past teaching experience-grade/age level, subject?
Provide a brief summary of some of the instructional strategies or approaches to curriculum design outlined by Marzano that you already use in the classroom.
Select one action step towards achieving effective classroom curriculum design that is particularly challenging. Note that, if possible, this should be something new that hasn't already been mentioned in a previous discussion.
Provide a concrete example of one action step in the curriculum design process that can be attempted to implement or change almost immediately. It may be the one area mentioned as a challenge, or it may be something that can change with relative ease. In the post, include some instructional strategies used when implementing that change in curriculum design.
