Based on the Implicit Association Test (IAT), my highest score (percentage) was associating males in career and females with family. Also, my lowest score (percentage) was associating females in career and males in family. I don't believe the IAT is a true indicator of my personal thoughts and beliefs. In my household my wife and I share our duties both when it comes to family life and career. I understand the importance of women being in a career, my wife is also able to provide for the household financially and thus providing the security we need. On another note, we have a two-year old daughter, who I (a male) am very hands on with. I prepare her drinks, feed her, bathe her and take her to school. I am very involved in her life, not just out of necessity, but to contribute equally to the household along with my wife. Therefore, I don't believe the IAT was a true indicator of my own thoughts and to be fair, there was a disclaimer on the test that notes it may not be a true representation of how a person thinks. The variation in scores is merely due to the repetitive questions and the sudden change in keys used in the test.

To increase awareness in identifying unconscious bias, it's important listen to what others are telling you, or if you see it yourself, you can bring it to the person's attention (if it's unconscious bias, then they likely won't know that they are being biased).
