Assignment:

Hayes, on page 93, concludes her discussion of the various accounts about Abraham and Jacob with the following comment. "The only relationship with humans that will work is one in which a balance between unchecked independence and blind obedience is achieved, and Yahweh finds such a relationship with Jacob. The metaphor for this relationship is the metaphor of struggle-Yahweh and humans lock in an eternoal struggle, neither prevailing yet both forever changed by their encounter one with the other." Discuss and document how Hayes' analyses of these biblical stories leads her to this conclusion.
