Gillian’s Restaurant has two items on the dessert menu: chocolate cake and apple pie. The restaurant hires a baker for twenty-one hours each week to produce the desserts. The baker is able to make a chocolate cake in 39 minutes and an apple pie in 45 minutes. Costs of ingredients for the chocolate cake are $1.75 and for the apple pie $1.93 and the restaurant budgets $90 each week for these ingredients. The manager estimates that each week the restaurant sells at least twice as many chocolate cakes as apple pies. Profit per chocolate cake is $4.15, and profit per apple pie is $5.00.
