I think both genetics and the environment someone is raised in will make a difference in there preferance. You often see kids that are brought up with a family with parents that were both heavily into playing sports and most of the time the kids seem to follow suit and have these same natural abilities but of course this isnt always 100% the case. Genetics definately helps play a role in this. There could also be the case were someone was adopted and their birth parents were amazing athletes but there adoptive parents raised them without phones or television and they read alot. That person may then come to love to read because that is what they have known most of their life but at some point discover they are also very athletic because of their genetics. While i think genetics plays a good role in this it can be changed by environment very quickly. I could use myself as an example as neither of my parents are athletic at all neither are my siblings but i am extremely athletic and have competed in many different types of sport. I beleive this didnt come about until a drastic change in my enviornment that lead me down this path. Without that change i may have continued to enjoy simmiliar types of entertainment as my family.
