The original data is available on Inside Airbnb. Adding Data to the Debate website but for the assignment purpose, has been edited to include only a small part of the data.
Using the dataset specifically allocated to you, answer the following questions. Each question should be answered in a separate worksheet. You need to rename each worksheet accordingly.
1) For the variable room_type
a) Create summary table that provide the frequencies and proportions for each room type.
b) Create a pie chart that shows percentage for each room type.
c) Create a bar chart with frequency on the vertical axis.
d) Which room type has the highest frequency?
e) Which room type has the lowest frequency?
2) For the variables room_type and neighbourhood
Filter the neighbourhood to include only: Sydney, The Hills Shire, Warringah, Waverly
a) Create a contingency table between the variables room-type and neighbourhood.
b) Create a side-by-side bar chart.
c) Which neighbourhood has the highest number of listings?
d) Which neighbourhood has the lowest number of listings?
e) What is the proportion of Airbnb in The Hills Shire that is of type Private room?
f) What is the proportion of Airbnb in Sydney that is of type Private room?
3) For the variable price
a) Create a descriptive statistic table for the variable Price (using Data > Data Analysis >Descriptive Statistics).
b) Create another descriptive statistics table using individual formula for the following: mean, standard deviation, five-number summary.
c) Calculate the inter-quartile range (IQR).
d) Calculate the lower and upper limit for the outliers.
e) Create a histogram.
f) Create a boxplot.
g) Are there any outliers?
h) What is the shape of the distribution of price?
4) For the variables longitude and price
a) Create a scatter plot between the variable longitude (in horizontal axis) and price (vertical axis).
b) Calculate correlation coefficient between the two variables.
c) What is the highest longitude and which area this represent?
d) What is the lowest longitude and which area this represent?
