An early experience of vision is critical for a baby's development of the sense of sight, and it is referred to as the sensitive period. This is the time when the child's vision gets affected by experience. At this point, the normal development of vision takes place, and mental changes occur with visual input (Sigelinan 8t Rider, 2018). At this point, mental changes do not occur if the child has a vision problem. Lack of normal development results in a sensitive period for damage where an ahnonnal development of visual input may result in visual deficit. The visual system is categorized into light and color sensitivity, depth perception and visual acuity, whidi is the sharpness of the eyes for finer details. Infants have a higher sensitivity to light than adults. They are also able to make facial discrimination days after birth where they develop strong recognition for the mother's face (Frank, Vul 8.: Johnson, 2009).
