Steel rods AB and BC each have a diameter of 5 mm. If the load of p= 2 kN is applied to the ring, and if ? = 60°, determine the following:

a. The average normal stress in each rod.

b. Assuming an alloawable stress of 85 MPa determine which one of the rods'stress (if any) is too close for comfort or is in safety violation.
