1. Briefly compare autonomic neurons to somatic motor neurons in terms of types of effectors, number of neurons forming the pathway, speed of conduction along fibers, and neurotransmitters released. Compare and contrast the basic details of sympathetic pathways to different body regions and the details of parasympathetic pathways to the same regions (especially the length of the pre-synaptic and post-synaptic fibers and relative locations of the ganglia).

2. Describe the basic pathway of parasympathetic innervation through cranial nerves and sacral spinal nerves to the visceral organs.

3 Describe the effect of parasympathetic innervation on each visceral organ innervated by the division of the ANS, especially the heart, blood vessels, gastrointestinal tract, lungs, adrenal medulla, and external genitalia.

4. Describe the basic pathways of sympathetic innervation from the spinal cord to the effector organs in the body periphery, the head, and the visceral organs.

5. Describe the effect of sympathetic innervation on each effector organ, especially the heart, blood vessels, gastrointestinal tract, lungs, adrenal medulla, and external genitalia.
