(1) Read two case scenarios below and (2) discuss what you think should be done in each case based on what you've learned from the lecture and learning materials.

Scenario #1: The IEP for Mark, a fourth grader with autism spectrum disorders who receive services from a special education teacher 80% of the day, is scheduled after school at 3:30 p.m. The classroom teacher who sees Mark for the remaining 20% of his day says there is no need for her to attend the IEP because she does not see Mark as much as the special education teacher. She says she will provide a report. The special education teacher learns about this and tells the principal and asks that the IEP be rescheduled. The principal says there is no need to do that as long as the teacher sends a report.

Scenario #2: Jesse's mother is concerned when Jesse fails kindergarten. She goes into the school and asks the kindergarten teacher for an evaluation of her child. The kindergarten teacher asks her to wait to see how he does the next year. When Jesse gets to first grade, he continues to struggle, and Jesse's mother asks for a case study. The first-grade teacher tells her to wait to see how he does in their response to intervention program. At the end of the year, Jesse has done poorly but moves on to second grade where he continues to fall further behind.
