Scenario;
A customer has asked you to make a mechanical modification to their vehicle to improve performance. You can choose from a braking system upgrade, a suspension system upgrade or an engine mechanical system upgrade (i.e. forced induction). You must develop and present an estimate and technical report including research and specifications. Your submission must include the following;
1) Identify and list any required PPE and specialty tools needed to complete the job
2) State reasons for brands chosen (i.e. cost and quality considerations) along with a background report on how your modification will improve performance
3) State manufacturer specifications for the original system components, along with the new specifications as per your modifications, including any tolerances/clearances and wear allowances
4) Estimates for Labour and Parts costings, showing reference to costing catalogues and labour time guides
5) Show costings for any external products or services (i.e specific manufacturing or finishing of components, or aligning or tuning services and including Mean, Mode, Median pricing rates)
6) Show any ADRs (Australian design rules) and/or VSBs (Vehicle safety bulletins) that relate to the system you are modifying, and show how your modifications still adhere to them
7) Include a full step by step procedure to carry out the modification (dismantling and reassembling), noting all safe operating requirements, in your report. Include graphics and/or diagrams where you can
8) Show references to any images, information sources, research data and style guides you have used to develop your modification recommendations
9) Develop and include a questionnaire document you would use when first discussing modification requirements with the customer (this should include but is not limited to what performance changes they would be expecting, what budget they would be expecting to work within, as well as timeframes they would like the tasks completed in)
10) Show any revisions and editing completed during your task (include a draft copy, you will not be assessed on the content of your draft but we must see how you have revised and edited your project)
11) Include a cover page for your estimate and report showing the make and model of the vehicle, the customer's name (make one up) and the type of modification
12) Submit your assessment in both a hard paper based format as well as an electronic format (thumb drive, data disc or e-mail is fine)
Assessment 2
Scenario;
A customer has asked you to make an electrical modification to their vehicle. You can choose from a lighting system upgrade, an electric accessory system conversion (electric window conversion etc.) or an engine electronic management system upgrade (i.e. performance upgrade). You must develop and present an estimate and technical report including research and specifications. Your submission must include the following;
1) Identify and list any required PPE and specialty tools needed to complete the job
2) State reasons for brands chosen (i.e. cost and quality considerations) along with a background report on how your modification will improve performance

12) Submit your assessment in both a hard paper based format as well as an electronic format (thumb drive, data disc or e-mail is fine)
Assessment 3
Scenario;
A customer has asked you to make a body modification to their vehicle. You can choose from an external body modification (i.e. front or rear spoiler) or an external air intake modification (i.e. bonnet scoop or upgraded top mount intercooler air dam).
