Auditing Assignment - Email response to Cryptocurrencies query
Topic: You have recently started a graduate placement at MGKP, and large Accounting and Auditing firm with offices in Australia and throughout the world. You are about to be assigned to your first assurance engagement, and your boss (Thomas McGyver) has asked you to do some preparatory work to ensure you have a good understanding of an emerging auditing issue. He has asked you to conduct research using your Auditing textbook, scholarly journal articles (which can be accessed through the Swinburne library databases), and other credible auditing sites to explain in your own words:
- what crypto currencies are; and
- the challenges faced when auditing cryptocurrencies (Hint: think of what assertions may be at risk, and why).
He has asked you email your findings to him - including a list of references at the end of your email (in case he wants to follow anything up!).
