ASSIGNMENT
GoodWidgets Company ("GWC") has not been able to attract a large pool of qualified candidates and has difficulties retaining its employees. Their challenges have increased significantly since the start of the pandemic in 2019, though the company itself has been growing business. The company is non-union, and aims to keep positive employee relations; however it's been challenging to attract employees to front line roles as well as management jobs given many companies offer work from home options that don't suit GWC's business model
Mariah, the General Manager, has come to you for HR consulting advice. After a needs analysis, you determine that GWC does not have an Employer Branding message ... no wonder they are having problems - in addition to recent Countrywide talent shortages.
Mariah heard about Employer Branding at a business conference but isn't sold on the benefits of Employer Branding ... to her, it's just words on an advertisement.
Write an email memo (in the first person) to:
Persuade Mariah why and how Employer Branding can positively impact GWC;
Give her advice about putting strong branding in place that actually show actions behind the words at GWC; what might be considered in terms of the impact on attraction challenges across diverse types of roles - both hourly manufacturing/operational roles (working in factory/plant environment), and corporate roles (accounting, Human Resources, Marketing)? and suggest a strategy to sustain GWC's Employer Brand and build its attractiveness to employees in this increasingly challenging environment using your general HR knowledge.
