In the initial stakeholder analysis, the business analyst evaluates the attitudes of stakeholders toward the project in question. Additionally, savvy business analysts conduct analyses periodically throughout the project to track changes in stakeholder attitudes, especially when institutionalized processes are being changed. There could be trouble ahead for your efforts if you are not aware of changing attitudes among your key stakeholders.

Mike's challenge arises from a project in which he conducted elicitation in 150 branches of the bank with key stakeholders.

As Mike facilitated the review session to gain consensus and signoff, he presented the confirmed elicitation results to the sponsor of the project, but the sponsor did not support the change. Additionally, the sponsor's memories of previous interviews and workshops vanished. The sponsor made a point of disparaging Mike's presentation during the review session, adding insult to injury.
