A population of 1600 adults, all homozygous for the L gene, live in a valley below a leaky nuclear power reactor. After three generations, the allele frequency of the L gene declined to 0.84 as a result of mutations to an alternate form (there has been no selective force operating on this locus). Using this information, calculate the mutation rate. Mutations back to type L are also occurring, at the rate of .14. At what frequency of the two alleles will equilibrium eventually occur?
