United Motors claims that one of its cars, the Starbird 300, has a fuel efficiency of 7.84 L/100 km in the city, with a standard deviation of .26 L/100 km. Assume that the fuel efficiency for this vehicle is normally distributed within the population, and let X denote the fuel efficiency of a randomly selected Starbird 300.

a) Assuming that United Motors' claim is correct, find P(X ≥ 8.71).

b) If you purchase (randomly select) a Starbird 300 and your fuel efficiency is 8.71 L/100 km while driving in the city, what do you think of United Motors' claim? Explain your answer.
