The Association for Talent Development's most recent State of the Industry report came out in 2019. Some of the most important things to learn from this report are:

-The global training market grew by 5.4% in 2018 to reach a value of $ 356.4 billion. This is up from $ 338.5 billion in 2017.

-The US training market grew by 5.9% in 2018 to reach a value of $ 90.6 billion. This is up from $ 85.6 billion in 2017.

-The average US company spends $ 1,252 per employee on training, up from $ 1,195 in 2017.

-The top priorities for training and development in 2019 are increasing employee engagement (61%), developing leadership at all levels (57%), and improving customer service (56%).

Some of the key insights from the 2013 report include the following:

-The global training market was valued at $ 316 billion in 2012.

-The US training market was valued at $ 75.8 billion in 2012.

-The average US company spent $ 1,207 per employee on training in 2012.

-The top priorities for training and development in 2013 were increasing employee engagement (56%), developing leadership at all levels (54%), and improving customer service (52%).

Some of the key differences between the two reports include the following:

-The global training market has grown by 12.4% since 2013.

-The US training market has grown by 18.9% since 2013.

-The average US company has increased its training expenditure by 2.9% since 2013.

-The top priorities for training and development have remained unchanged since 2013, with increasing employee engagement and developing leadership at all levels remaining the top two priorities.
