Assignment:

Write about the association between your exposure/outcome pair.

Research your exposure/outcome association in the peer-reviewed literature. Use a search engine (Web of Science, PubMed etc.) to find at least three peer-reviewed articles on primary studies (i.e., not review papers).

Choose 3 important papers about your exposure/outcome association each containing studies that utilize a different study design from those we are studying in this course. These are as follows:

Ecologic study
Cross-sectional study
Case-control study
Cohort study
Experimental study

You must have three papers, minimum, each using a different study design.

Critically review each of the epidemiological papers you have chosen. You will be given a Review Sheet that can assist you with this (the use of this sheet is optional).

Write, and submit via the link on Canvas, a 750 to 1000-word paper about your findings based on your article reviews and using any additional needed articles. Submit both your paper and the three articles via link on Canvas.

Your paper must contain the following:

A summary and critique of each of the articles you have chosen (in paragraph form)

An overall synthesis of findings on your exposure/outcome pair. (for example: are the findings consistent? How or how not?)

Your opinion of whether there is evidence of a causal association between your exposure and outcome and why you think this is so (you must back this up with information from the articles you read).
