Tourism Planning Scenario: Travel Details: Groups:
You are a destination event planner for a DMO/DMC who works for North Shore municipalities. You are contacted by two groups who ask for the creation of a full visit/destination agenda. You must create agendas that will "sell" our area to these groups.
Both groups will arrive at Boston Logan Airport Monday, June 3 (afternoon), and will depart the morning of Saturday, June 8.
Group 1: 35 high-school students from Minnesota. This is a school-sponsored group of Honors History students.
Group 2: 25 retirees from Kentucky. Some of them spent their careers working in the Bourbon industry, while the others worked in the horse racing business.
Instructions: (submit on Canvas)
Begin with a cover letter to each group letting them know that your DMO/DMC (company) has put together a great itinerary for their trip. Next, create full agendas for each group (separately). Begin by determining the attractions/activities are available in the area that each group might be interested in. Note:Agenda items are NOT confined to the North Shore, but you must consider travel time/boredom factor of your clients. Be realistic! Also, do your research! Be creative! You have to keep these groups busy for a few days!
Your agenda must include the following information:
times
locations (including hotels)
travel time
specifics about each destination, including all 3 meals per day
The top of each agenda day page should have detailed information regarding the activities for the day, including meals.
