Transduction efficiency

(PFUs/per 100 phage particles = %)

You are performing transduction experiment, infecting E.coli with recombinant phage T5.

You set up two tubes. In one 90ml of E.coli culture is mixed with 10ml of T5 phage (1 particles/1ml stock concentration), Second tube has only 100ml of E.coli. Content of the both tubes was plated on the two separated petri dishes.

1. Which plate would be called control plate?

2. Please come up with hypothetical results for this experiment, and shortly explain their meaning

3. Please calculate Transduction efficiency based on your results (84 colonies and 94 colonies)
