1. The Covid-19 pandemic severely affected the operations of many organizations, both government agencies and private business companies. The most heavily affected are the small enterprises. At YouMe Company Inc., the employees heard through the grapevine that a possible retrenchment of several workers might happen. Everyone is aware of the usual method of last in, first out standard operating procedure in cases of employee reduction. Ms. Dely Presentacion, is a single parent with 3 children. She is new in the company. In fact she received her regular status recently after serving the company for 6 months demonstrating par excellence performance in her job. If you were in the shoes of Ms.DP, what will you think and feel about the situation? Do you think other employees in the same predicament share the same views and reaction? Why? 2. Jersey, a PWD is an employee of SuperPower Energy Corporation engaged in energy technologies especially renewable energy. This company is a leading manufacturer and service provider of renewable energy facilities. SPEC is not only a profitable business but also the strongest advocate on so many issues about climate change. It has built a reputation of Enterprising Environmentalist. This company does not only sell, it also educate. At present the company employs around 10% PWDs in its total employee population. These PWD employees report to work regularly and performed their tasks as expected. They also enjoy attractive compensation and benefits. One day, during a meeting among supervisors, they discovered that the performance appraisal reports show unsatisfactory ratings for most of the PWDs. The report revealed that this low performance is attributed to their physical disability. Some supervisors think otherwise. The supervisors agreed that they should meet their respective PWD subordinates for a performance review meeting.
