Each of the following sampling proposals is flawed. Pick one and explain why and what you could do to fix the issue.

  2. A mathematician wants to test the probability he calculated for drawing colored balls randomly from a bag. He buys a bag of colored marbles from a local store, puts them in a bag, draws them repeatedly and records the results. Assuming his calculations are correct, suggest some reasons why the results of drawing from the bag might not match the calculated results.
  3. A Republican politician wants to learn about the preferences of voters in his district. He randomly selects a group of registered Republican voters and has a pollster contact them with questions.
  4. A political group wants to collect information on public opinion toward a new budget proposal. To have this, they select a random group of people to call from local voter registrations and ask them the following question: "Recent budget cuts have caused funding to be cut to police and school districts. Are you in favor of the governor's new budget?"
