Scenario

Toys for All (TFA) are a large toy maker who operate in an ever-changing market, they have a large Sales and Marketing team, a Research and Development department, Production, IT and Robotics, Administration and Finance. Recognising the huge developments in technology and the increased sophistication of customers, they believe they need to come up with a new range of products.

You are a Finance Manager at TFA and Sheryl Jordan, Finance Director, has been given responsibility to ensure that this process runs smoothly. 

She has been informed that team building presents a challenge when trying to manage a project, and has read Katzenbach and Smith's definition of a team. "a small number of people with complementary skills who are committed to a common purpose, performance goals and approach for which they hold themselves mutually accountable" 

Question 1 

She has asked you for advice, in the form of a memo, on how she can select her team from across the organisation to meet the firm's objective and what skills and characteristics should she look for and want problems could occur within this process.

Also how can she ensure that the disparate sections of the organisation work together to achieve the project goal?

She has also asked for a report explaining how she can monitor the progress on the project to ensure that the goal is achieved by the due date.
